Great Job, this is exactly what I was looking to build then I took a short cut and made a different style altogether. Now I need to get back in the shop and try and copy this one thanks for the inspiration.

Coffee is coffee — no short cuts for me anymore. Glad this helped.

Great idea, man! I also hate the coffee single bags. I have been bring a small french press, but I like your idea better! Definitely lighter than the glass in the press. JBM on an AT hike, anyone? Peace.

You obviously don’t understand that this is for backpacking, camping, and other situations where, I don’t know, there is NO ELECTRICITY. A coffee maker is a moot point in those situations. Peace.

If it was a bit deeper your could probably steam a decent amount of vegetables while boiling something else.

I was killing two birds with one stone! Video and laundry at the same time, plus it was my first video. If you notice in future vids I only have a radio in the background.

This is by far the coolest backpacking idea I have seen yet! Hot coffee just the way I like it perked!

Gr8 vid, NCHiker! Sometime ago, I had the same idea for those little tins. They work good for baking muffins. The coffee perc is fantastic, good job!

You have really interested me in making one of these, however, I am having a heck of time finding the correct tin size?
Seems to me, it has to be 2 3/4 inches in dia to fit tight enough for the (outer ring on tin) to sit on the pot, so your lid is actually above the pot?
If so, I have only been able to find 2 1/2 and 3 inch dia tins.
I expect they would need to be food grade also.
Any ideas on where one mite purchase these, I am in the Chattanooga Tn area.
thanks

When I bought the first tin I got it out of a candle making section of a arts and craft store. Either an AC Moore or a Micheals. I know I have found them in Hobby Lobby as well! OMG I just admited to going into these places! I was following my wife in I swear! LOL.
